New Supplies for Shelters in Kyiv
The capital city has acquired new inflatable double mattresses for 2,160 sleeping spots and approximately 100 electric and manual pumps for inflation. This initiative was made possible through the campaign ‘Mattresses for Shelters’ initiated by Belgian Alain Marlie.
This was reported by the Deputy Head of the Kyiv City State Administration and Kyiv City Council member (UDAR faction) Valentyn Mondryivskyi.
The idea was supported by the French company INTEX, which provided the mattresses, the president of the Rotary Club Louhans Bresse Bourguignonne Mr. Lacroix, and the company B&B Logistik from Luxembourg, which organized the delivery. The transportation costs were partially funded by the company's director, Mr. Braun, while the remaining expenses were covered by European Rotary clubs.
The Kyiv City State Administration ensured the reception and distribution of the aid, which will be directed to shelters to enhance the comfort of residents during air raid alarms.
“Thanks to this initiative, the shelters in the capital that need it the most will receive the necessary means for a comfortable stay during air raids. This is extremely important, as enemy attacks, unfortunately, are not becoming less frequent, and with each new shelling, more residents are heading to shelters to save their lives. We sincerely thank our international partners for their support — such expressions of solidarity and humanity bring us closer to the great European family,” said Valentyn Mondryivskyi.
As emphasized during the aid transfer by the representative of the French Embassy in Ukraine — Counsellor and Deputy Head of Mission Sébastien Surin, collaboration and solidarity in supporting Ukrainians are currently very important.
