Prince Harry was struck by the number of flags placed in memory of fallen Ukrainians. On September 12, the Duke of Sussex made an unannounced visit to Kyiv at the invitation of the Ukrainian government.
During his trip with the Invictus Games Foundation team, he held several meetings with Ukrainian politicians, philanthropists, media representatives, and veterans.
The prince also visited a public memorial at Independence Square, which deeply affected him.
Wanting to lay a wreath and spend some time alone, he moved inward to avoid the crowd's attention.
“Honestly, this is one of the saddest things I have ever seen. But it is also one of the most beautiful,” he said in an interview with the Guardian.
