Traffic Accident on Kharkiv Highway: Pedestrian Injured

On September 13, 2025, around 1:00 PM, a traffic accident occurred at the intersection of Kharkiv Highway and Bratslavska Street.
According to initial reports, the driver of a Volkswagen, moving in the first lane, ignored a red traffic light and hit a 23-year-old female soldier who was crossing the street on a green light within the pedestrian crossing.
After the incident, the 44-year-old driver left the scene, but was soon located and detained by law enforcement under Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine.
The driver claimed to the police that her husband was behind the wheel and had fled the scene of the accident. However, officers disproved this information and also found that the driver was under the influence of alcohol - 3.11 promille.
The victim sustained multiple injuries and was hospitalized.
A criminal case has been initiated under Part 1 of Article 286-1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine for violating traffic safety rules or operating vehicles while intoxicated.
