UK-Ukraine Cooperation on Drone Production
The defense ministers of Ukraine and the United Kingdom, Denys Shmyhal and John Healey, met in London to discuss the implementation of an agreement on the production of interceptor drones.
Shmyhal shared this information on his Telegram account.
"During our meeting with John Healey in London, we discussed the practical implementation of the agreement. This is a significant step in realizing the Century Partnership Agreement between Ukraine and the UK," he noted.
Shmyhal added that the agreement was signed in continuation of the arrangements made between the President of Ukraine and the Prime Minister of the UK regarding industrial cooperation.
"Initially, we plan to produce the first thousand drones, all of which will be delivered to Ukraine," the minister reminded.
According to him, the interceptor drones have already proven effective against Russia's "Shahed" terror.
"We will continue to scale these projects, attract investments, and improve technologies to effectively protect Ukrainian cities and civilians from Russian aerial attacks," Shmyhal emphasized.
The minister added that both the Ukrainian and British sides also reviewed the outcomes of the “Ramstein” meeting and coordinated issues for the next meeting scheduled for October.
The UK will produce and collaboratively develop cutting-edge military equipment with the Ukrainian industry under a new technology exchange agreement. In particular, London plans to manufacture and transfer thousands of kamikaze drones to Ukraine within the next 12 months.
