Service Employee Steals Car: Court Verdict
An auto service worker committed theft by stealing a client's vehicle and subsequently got involved in a traffic accident. The police quickly apprehended him, leading to a court verdict. The incident occurred in May this year when a local resident reported his Skoda Octavia missing after leaving it for service. Authorities discovered that a previously convicted 24-year-old employee was involved in the car's disappearance.
The man took advantage of his access to the keys, drove the car around with a friend, and ended up in an accident. He abandoned the vehicle and fled the scene to evade responsibility. Officers quickly tracked him down and arrested him under Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine.
Investigators from the Solomyansky Police Department, under the supervision of the Solomyansky District Prosecutor's Office, charged the suspect with Part 3 of Article 289 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine — illegal possession of a vehicle. The pre-trial investigation was completed, and the indictment was sent to court.
The Solomyansky District Court of Kyiv found him guilty and sentenced him to eight years in prison.
