Safe Routes to School: New Guidelines for Parents and Children

Starting Monday, the new school year begins, and public relations inspectors along with students have placed informational signs with pedestrian traffic rules near schools. This was reported by the patrol police of Kyiv.

The patrol officers reminded everyone of the rules to follow to ensure a safe path to school:

• before crossing the road — stop. Make sure the driver sees you and has stopped;
• always look both ways: first to the left, then to the right;
• remove headphones and avoid using gadgets while crossing the road;
• hold your child's hand;
• while waiting for the green light, keep a safe distance from the roadway.

Adults behind the wheel must be especially vigilant on the roads. «Dear drivers, please be extremely careful when passing by educational institutions, especially when children are heading to school! Take care of yourselves and follow these simple rules!», the police urged drivers.
