New Investigation into Illegal Drug Trafficking in Kyiv
The Kyiv City Prosecutor's Office has charged five individuals in a case related to the illegal trafficking of narcotic substances. Their actions are classified under Part 3 of Article 307 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, which includes illegal production, storage, transportation, and distribution of drugs in large quantities. It was established that the criminal group sold methadone, mephedrone, amphetamines, PVP, cannabis, and other narcotics via postal services. Approximately 300 g of PVP, electronic scales, packages, mobile phones, and devices for consuming drugs were seized from the suspects.
Currently, the issue of selecting a preventive measure in the form of detention is being addressed. The article prescribes a penalty of up to 12 years of imprisonment with confiscation of property. The preliminary investigation is being conducted by the Main Department of the National Police in Kyiv, with operational support from the DSR units of the National Police of Ukraine.
According to Article 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a lawful manner by a court verdict.
