The Kyiv police have initiated a criminal case concerning the display of Nazi symbols on social networks. Yesterday, during an Internet monitoring operation, officers from the criminal analysis unit discovered a post featuring a 23-year-old woman from Kyiv posing with a Nazi flag.
The offender shared this photo on her social media page. Investigators from the Svyatoshyn police department recorded this incident in the Unified Register of Pre-trial Investigations under part 1 of Article 436-1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, which pertains to the production and distribution of communist and Nazi symbols and the propaganda of totalitarian regimes.
As part of the ongoing investigation, law enforcement seized the flag as evidence. The pre-trial investigation is ongoing, and the penalty under this article can be up to five years of imprisonment with confiscation of property.
