The Kyiv Court of Appeals has upheld the sentence for a man who committed acts of cruelty against a stray dog, sentencing him to 7.5 years in prison. Prosecutors from the Kyiv City Prosecutor's Office were actively involved in the case, emphasizing the severity of the crime committed.
The defendant's lawyer sought to have the charges reduced, requesting a reclassification of the crime, but the court maintained the original ruling.
It was reported that the man, living with his partner and children, brought a stray dog named Milka into their home, but later began to treat her cruelly. After a series of violent acts, including kicking and throwing her down the stairs, the dog sustained multiple injuries that led to her death. All these horrific actions were captured on surveillance cameras.
Thus, the ruling of the first-instance court stands firm, and justice has been served for defenseless animals.
