Surgeon Faces Charges for Negligence During Surgery

A high-profile case has emerged in Kyiv against a surgeon from a private clinic who performed breast surgery on a patient despite her existing cancer condition. The doctor ignored medical examination results indicating the presence of a tumor and did not refer the woman for further evaluation by an oncologist. As a result, the surgical intervention worsened her health.

Investigations revealed that last September, a woman from Kyiv sought surgery at a medical center. However, during the preparation for the procedure, signs of an oncological issue were detected, yet the surgeon failed to direct the patient for additional testing.

This led to the further spread of the malignant tumor and a significant decline in the woman's health.

Upon realizing the potential criminal consequences, the surgeon attempted to mislead the investigation by claiming he was undergoing treatment in another region.

Investigators from the local prosecutor's office informed him of the charges for failing to fulfill professional duties, resulting in severe consequences. The article stipulates a penalty of up to two years of imprisonment.
