Arrest of FSB Agent in Kyiv: New Insights
The Security Service of Ukraine has detained another FSB agent in Kyiv. This individual was coordinating missile attacks from Russia against the capital and spying on the movement of military trains. It was revealed that a 24-year-old IT specialist, recruited by the occupiers, came under the FSB's radar while searching for «easy money» on Telegram. Under the direction of Russian intelligence, he documented the consequences of airstrikes on Kyiv and monitored the locations of Ukrainian air defense.
To carry out his tasks, the agent rented apartments in high-rise buildings, the addresses of which were provided by his handler. He installed video cameras with remote access in the windows of these apartments for Russian operatives. This allowed the enemy to spy on potential targets during attacks on Kyiv, adjusting their strikes accordingly. Additionally, the agent set similar «video traps» near railway lines, where the enemy believed military trains might be moving through the capital region.
The SBU counterintelligence uncovered the agent in time, documented his activities, and arrested him «red-handed» in the rented accommodation. At the scene, a video camera and a phone containing evidence of his contacts with the FSB handler were found.
Investigators have charged the agent under Article 111 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (treason committed in a state of war).
The perpetrator is currently in custody. He faces life imprisonment with asset confiscation. Operations were conducted by SBU employees in Kyiv and the Kyiv region under the procedural supervision of the Kyiv regional prosecutor's office.
