New Art Exhibition in Kyiv: Strength and Bravery
On August 7, a new exhibition titled "Our goal" by artist and serviceman Alexander Kom'yakhov will open at Squat 17b in Kyiv.
The exhibition features 50 graphic works by Alexander Kom'yakhov, showcasing the current realities of military life. It is held at the Gallery of Protest Art of the Maidan Museum.
While serving in the Armed Forces, the artist continued to focus on military themes.
His pieces are not merely artworks but actual reports from the frontlines. Alexander paints on-site during field trips, creating portraits and infographics, with details refined afterward.
Most of the works exhibited were created prior to the artist's mobilization.
«This is a series of historically-military prints called „Glory of Ukrainian Arms“, initiated in 2015, though work on it is currently paused», the organizers state.
Additionally, prints from the «Cats of the Armed Forces» project—a sticker pack featuring humorous cats for messengers (2022)—are also presented.
The exhibition includes the print «Dvizh»—the original polychrome linocut on the topic of the volunteer movement created during the artist's service.
«Also on display is the work „HUMVEE/Pouring“ and the emblem print „Varyag Squad“ for the unit where Anatoliy, Alexander's comrade, serves. He is a significant inspiration for this exhibition, as all proceeds from the sale of prints and merchandise will be sent to Anatoliy for purchasing a genium x4 microprocessor knee joint to return to service», the organizers added.
They also highlighted the Ukrainian project, which provided items for the exhibition with a 100% cost for collection.
«The prints available for purchase at this exhibition were sent to the author at the positions for personal signatures, making them even more special», the announcement states.
The exhibition runs from August 7 to September 3 inclusive. Curator Nadia Antonez.
The opening event of the exhibition is on August 7 at 19:00
Where: Squat 17b (Tereshchenkivska, 17b).
