Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and NSDC Secretary Rustem Umerov held a meeting to discuss preparations for new negotiations with the Russian side in Istanbul.
The head of state shared information via Telegram, stating, “We discussed the negotiation track with Rustem Umerov and Andriy Yermak, focusing on the execution of previous agreements with the Russian side.”
Zelensky emphasized that one of the key issues is the continuation of prisoner exchanges.
“We have an agreement for the exchange of 1200 individuals, and work is ongoing on the lists. The NSDC Secretary reported on communications with the Russian representative. We are also working to facilitate the return of our civilians, clarifying data on each surname,” the President added.
Yermak reported on the cooperation with key partners who are assisting Ukrainian diplomacy.
President Zelensky stressed that Ukraine is ready for a leaders' meeting if Russia is genuinely inclined to end the war honorably and establish lasting peace.
