Man Arrested for Attempted Murder Out of Jealousy
Law enforcement officers have arrested a man who attempted to kill a rival due to jealousy over his wife. The couple had not been living together for some time but were not officially divorced. Unexpectedly seeing his wife with another man, the distraught husband stabbed the victim in the chest. He faces up to 15 years in prison for his actions.
The Kyiv police received a report about a man with a knife wound sitting on the street Danila Shcherbakivskyi near one of the buildings. An investigative group and criminal investigation department staff arrived at the scene. Medical personnel hospitalized the victim and provided assistance; currently, his life and health are not in danger.
According to the head of the Shevchenkivskyi police department, Ihor Padiuk, law enforcement quickly identified the attacker and arrested him at his residence under Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine:
"As part of the initiated criminal proceedings, we established that a 30-year-old Kyiv resident came to his wife's residence, with whom he does not live and has not yet divorced, and saw her with another man. In despair, the man grabbed a kitchen knife and stabbed the 32-year-old victim in the chest."
Currently, investigators under the procedural guidance of the Shevchenkivskyi district prosecutor's office have informed the suspect of charges under Part 2 of Article 15 and Part 1 of Article 115 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine – attempted intentional murder. For committing this particularly serious crime, the man faces up to 15 years in prison.
