Corruption Scheme at a Kyiv Medical University

Kyiv police investigators, together with SBU employees under the guidance of the city prosecutor's office, have documented criminal activities.

It has been established that a 26-year-old foreign national residing in Kyiv assisted students from a medical university in passing the KROK exam for a fee without actual preparation.

Consequently, students, including foreign citizens, paid him 9,000 dollars, which he and his accomplices valued for a successful exam pass. After completing the specialized qualification exam, the foreign students submitted blank personalized answer sheets, after which an unknown person filled in the correct answers, ensuring a positive outcome.

Currently, law enforcement has documented one episode of this corruption scheme.

The suspect has been charged under part 5 of article 27 and part 3 of article 368 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine for facilitating the receipt of unlawful benefits by a public official. The sanctions provide for up to ten years of imprisonment and disqualification from holding certain positions for up to three years, along with confiscation of property.

Authorities are continuing investigative actions to identify other participants in the corruption scheme involved in forging exam papers and falsifying results.
