Kyivenergo Expands Heat Meter Installation
Kyivenergo is ramping up the installation of new accounting devices in residential buildings where such devices were previously absent.
New meters are also replacing old ones that have failed or have been stolen. According to the company, in 2025, the program for installing heat meters in apartment buildings continues.
The program began in 2020. This year, over 300 new accounting devices are planned to be installed, along with about 100 meters to replace those that were stolen or are beyond repair. This marks a 25% increase compared to 2024.
So far, 53 new meters have been installed, making up 12% of the planned installations for this year.
“Kyiv is a leader among Ukrainian cities in equipping residential buildings with heat meters. Currently, there are over 10,200 meters installed, covering about 90% of the residential stock. Our goal is to gradually increase the number of meters. This year, even more clients will be paying for the actual heat consumed by their buildings,” said the director of the “Energosbyt” division of Kyivenergo, Konstantin Lopatyn.
If a meter is not installed, charges are calculated based on Government Methodology No. 315. This means that the cost of heating for clients is calculated taking into account the thermal load of the building, the number of hours of heat supply, and the average monthly outdoor temperature.
As previously reported, in preparation for the heating season of 2025-2026, “Kyivenergo” conducts annual comprehensive maintenance, repair, and verification of accounting devices. This year, over 2,400 meters are scheduled for verification, and an additional 1,100 are planned for repair.
