Ukrainian Security Service Takes Down Killers of Colonel
The Security Service of Ukraine has successfully carried out a special operation, resulting in the neutralization of individuals involved in the assassination of an SBU colonel in the capital.
The operation was conducted under the direct supervision of the head of the SBU, Lieutenant General Vasyl Maliuk.
“A group of criminals acting on behalf of Russian special services was previously directed to Ukraine. Three days ago, they committed the murder of our colleague, Colonel Ivan Voronych. Following our undercover investigative efforts, we located their hideout. During their arrest, the criminals resisted, leading to their elimination. Our stance remains unchanged: the enemy has only one prospect in Ukraine – death!,” emphasized Vasyl Maliuk.
The head of the Ukrainian security agency also expressed gratitude to the National Police for their support and professionalism.
He noted that countering Russian special services is a key focus for the SBU. Specifically, the agency takes measures to prevent 85% of crimes that are planned on the Ukrainian territory.
According to investigative data, the murder was carried out by two individuals – a man and a woman. Their handler instructed them to monitor the colonel's movements and routines. Subsequently, the assailants received coordinates for a stash containing a firearm.
After executing the murder of the colonel, the killers attempted to evade capture. However, SBU and National Police personnel located them in the Kyiv region. This morning, a special operation was executed during which the assailants resisted, leading to their elimination.
It is worth noting that on July 10, agents of Russian special services killed an SBU officer in the Holosiivskyi district of Kyiv. A criminal case has been opened regarding this incident under Article 348 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
