On Saturday morning, the Seine River in Paris was reopened for public swimming, marking the first time in a century.

Seine Opens for Swimming in France for the First Time in 100 Years
Residents and visitors of the French capital can enjoy a swim in the Seine this summer at three designated swimming areas, weather permitting.
One of these areas is located just steps away from the Eiffel Tower.
On Saturday morning, dozens of people arrived ahead of the river's reopening at 8 a.m. local time to take a plunge in the waters at the Bras-Mari zone in the historic center of the city.
The swimming areas, accommodating 150-300 people, are equipped with changing rooms, showers, and beach-style furniture.
Paris officials stated that measures have been taken to ensure the safety of swimmers, including daily water quality testing and swimming tests for bathers.
In preparation for the Olympic Games in Paris last year, the authorities invested approximately 1.4 billion euros to improve the water quality in the Seine.
The swimming areas will remain open until August 31.
