Charity Amputee Football Tournament in Kyiv: A Match for Heroes
On June 22, the NTK named after Viktor Bannikov stadium in Kyiv will host a charity amputee football tournament called "Match for Heroes 2.0". This event, organized by Mastercard and Oschadbank in partnership with the Ukrainian Football Association, aims to raise awareness about the development of adaptive sports in Ukraine and to fund the social project "League of the Strong," which assists military personnel with amputations in returning to active life.
"Match for Heroes 2.0" continues the charity initiative where veterans with amputations met Ukrainian stars on the football field for the first time. Together, they raised over 7.7 million UAH for sports prosthetics for patients at the Superhumans Center.
This year's event will be held in a tournament format under amputee football rules. Four teams will compete in two semifinals, a third-place match, and a final. Each match will consist of two halves of 20 minutes with a 10-minute break.
In total, more than 50 amputee footballers from various regions of Ukraine will take to the field, along with Ukrainian stars like Yevhen Klopotenko and Oleksandr Sydorenko (Fozzi) serving as goalkeepers. According to amputee football rules, goalkeepers can only play with one hand while the other is secured under a special corset to ensure compliance with the game conditions.
The "Match for Heroes 2.0" is open to the public: the tournament can be attended for free on June 22 starting at 10:30 at the NTK named after Viktor Bannikov stadium in Kyiv. The live broadcast of the tournament will be available on the official UAF YouTube channel, and it will also be shown on the MEGOGO media service on the "MEGOGO Football First" channel and on the "MEGOGO SPORT" TV channel, which broadcasts on T2 and cable networks.
