On April 4, the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine announced the expansion of the Ministry of Digital Affairs' authority in the areas of digital innovation, technology, robotics, artificial intelligence, and semiconductor technologies.
Government representative Taras Melnychuk reported this during a session in the Verkhovna Rada.
According to the changes, the Ministry of Digital Affairs will:
support the growth of the robotics sector, semiconductor technologies, domestic production of robotics, unmanned systems, and other innovative technologies for defense purposes;
set development priorities and ensure regulatory governance;
organize financial support for enterprises engaged in the development and production of robotic technologies;
coordinate testing and research of samples;
create and maintain infrastructure for testing, trials, and demonstrations of robotic technologies and unmanned systems;
promote the advancement of artificial intelligence in Ukraine.
It is worth noting that the Cabinet of Ministers has also transferred the regulatory functions of gambling from the Gambling Business Commission to the Ministry of Digital Affairs.
