New Veteran Support Center Opens in Kyiv
A Veteran Support Center has been inaugurated in Kyiv, forming part of a nationwide initiative to establish a network of such centers within higher vocational education institutions across Ukraine. This was announced by the Department of Education and Science of the Kyiv City State Administration.
The primary goal of the center is to assist veterans through educational opportunities, psychological support, and professional development. Family members of veterans can access educational services, including consultations on starting a family business and obtaining grants. The center is modeled after the Student Veteran Centers in the United States.
«This is more than just another educational initiative. We are committed to supporting our defenders in their new lives. The experience of our American colleagues, which we learned about during a working trip in August, shows that such centers become vital support points for veterans, helping them find their way in civilian life through education, psychological support, and professional development. Our center is about restoring faith in one’s abilities and building a future in Ukraine,» said Anna Shchutska, director of the Kyiv College of Applied Sciences.
The college specialists have already developed short-term course programs for the Veteran Support Center, including graphic design, web design, microbusiness (own clothing brand), Ukrainian sign language, e-commerce, and other relevant fields.
The project has been implemented with the support of the charitable organization «MHP-Community Charity Fund» and the All-Ukrainian Union of Defenders of Ukraine, athletes, and sector workers.
The Veteran Support Center will serve as a platform for education, personal growth, and successful integration of veterans into society, helping them build new lives in a peaceful environment. Additionally, it creates equal conditions and free access to education for veterans, ensuring educational accessibility.
