Sanctions Against Poroshenko: What Happened
On February 12, the National Security and Defense Council (NSDC) imposed sanctions against the member of parliament and fifth president of Ukraine, Petro Poroshenko.
President Volodymyr Zelensky announced the NSDC meeting. He stated that "the decision has been made and will be published the next day".
According to Poroshenko, this "provocation" involves Zelensky's team, the Cabinet of Ministers, and NSDC members. He accused the current Ukrainian leader of delivering a "colossal blow to internal unity".
Previously, the Verkhovna Rada's Committee on Rules recommended to support the suspension of MP Petro Poroshenko from participating in parliamentary sessions.
The suspension is set for six months, until the end of the 13th session.
Ahead of the committee meeting, the "European Solidarity" party published a statement regarding the possible suspension of Poroshenko, citing alleged reasons for this decision.
