Corruption Scandal in Kyiv City Council
The Kyiv City Prosecutor's Office has charged the head of the executive body of the Kyiv City Council (KCSA) and the former head of the municipal enterprise «ATP KCSA».
Their actions are classified under part 5 of Article 191 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, specifically as embezzlement of state property through abuse of official position by a group of individuals, committed on a large scale.
It has been established that the suspects ordered and paid for the renovation of the facade and other repair works in an office building on Boris Hrinchenko Street in Kyiv, which has already been removed from municipal ownership and belongs to private individuals.
The total expenditures for the renovation amounted to nearly 1.3 million hryvnias. Furthermore, the municipal enterprise does not even have rental agreements for the renovated premises, meaning that public money has effectively been used to pay for work on a private building.
The issue of choosing preventive measures for the suspects is currently being resolved.
The sanctions of the article provide for punishment in the form of imprisonment for up to twelve years, along with disqualification from holding certain positions or engaging in certain activities for up to three years and confiscation of property.
Requests for preventive measures in the form of detention with the possibility of bail equal to the amount of damages have been prepared for court.
