In the capital of Ukraine, law enforcement officials have arrested a young man who promised to help withdraw a conscript from military service for $7000. Prosecutors from the Kyiv City Prosecutor's Office have already charged him.
The 20-year-old was attempting to solicit money from the wife of a serviceman, claiming he could use his connections to declare her partner unfit for service and remove him from military records.
The conscript had been assigned to serve in a military unit. The suspect, posing as a law enforcement officer, promised to resolve the issue with the military enlistment office regarding his withdrawal. Following this, the individual would be declared unfit for service due to health reasons, allowing for his removal from the records.
For his services, the fraudster demanded a sum of $7000. He was detained while receiving an advance payment of $5000 under Ukrainian law.
The actions of the arrested individual are classified under articles 28 and 369-2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, which involve the receipt of unlawful benefits through the abuse of official position.
