Investigators from the Shevchenkivskyi police, in collaboration with the Security Service of Ukraine in Kyiv, uncovered misappropriation of budget funds.
According to Mykola Habinet, head of the investigative unit, the suspect is the acting head of the Urban Planning and Architecture Department of the Shevchenkivskyi District Administration.
It was established that the suspect, in collusion with business partners, purchased modular heating units for apartment buildings at inflated prices. To misappropriate budget funds, the criminals artificially marked up the cost of each unit through affiliated companies before selling them to the final customer.
As a result, nine modular heating units cost the city one million hryvnias with a markup, as confirmed by court expert evaluations.
Investigators detained the official under Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine and charged her under Part 5 of Article 191 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine for misappropriating budget funds through abuse of office. This article carries a penalty of up to twelve years in prison with confiscation of property.
