Corruption Scandal: New Developments in Cryptocurrency Bribery Case

The Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office and the National Anti-Corruption Bureau have uncovered bribery activities in cryptocurrency among officials of the State Border Guard Service.

Details: During the preliminary investigation, it was revealed that an officer from the State Border Guard Service provided an improper advantage to a law enforcement representative to avoid consequences for illegal activities.
The bribe, in the form of cryptocurrency "USDT" (equivalent to 355 thousand USD), was transferred to a cryptocurrency wallet of an intermediary engaged by the law enforcement officer. Once the full amount was received, it was converted to cash and handed over to the officer.
It is reported that the officer and his intermediary were notified of the suspicion in early February 2025.
They are charged with committing a crime under Part 4 of Article 368 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
The pretrial investigation is ongoing.
