Strengthening Energy Cooperation: A Meeting of Minds
Maxim Timchenko, CEO of DTEK, held a significant meeting with Katarina Reich, Germany's Federal Minister of Economy and Energy, at one of the company's thermal power plants. Timchenko shared this on LinkedIn.
“I was pleased to showcase our efforts in protecting and restoring the country's energy infrastructure,” he remarked.
Timchenko emphasized that electricity produced at these plants is crucial in countering Russia's attempts to plunge Ukraine into darkness this winter.
He noted that October has been particularly challenging for Ukraine's energy system; despite the heating season not yet starting, Russian strikes have systematically targeted generation facilities, networks, and gas extraction and storage sites.
“Even before the heating season began, Russian attacks in October were particularly intense. Strikes were systematically directed at generation facilities, network infrastructure, and gas extraction and storage sites,” stated DTEK's CEO.
He reported that DTEK, along with the government and the energy sector, is working around the clock to ensure a stable electricity supply.
Timchenko expressed gratitude to Minister Reich and German energy companies for their support in restoring Ukraine's energy infrastructure. He conveyed confidence that together with allies, Ukraine will overcome energy terror.
“By uniting with our European and American partners, we will overcome Russia's energy terror and endure the challenging months ahead,” concluded Timchenko.
Earlier, it was reported that DTEK's energy teams restored electricity for 184,000 families whose homes were left without power due to shelling.
