Strengthening Defense: Ukraine and the UK Collaborate
The defense ministers of Ukraine and the United Kingdom, Denys Shmyhal and John Healey, met in Kyiv to discuss the next steps in bolstering the defense capabilities of both nations.

The Minister expressed gratitude for the friendship and collaboration between the two countries, emphasizing that the UK is a key ally and a true leader in the coalition supporting Ukraine.
Shmyhal highlighted Ukraine's critical needs, including ammunition, air defense systems, and long-range weaponry.
He also stressed the importance of long-term support for Ukraine to achieve lasting peace and prevent any future aggression from Russia.
The parties discussed security guarantees, particularly the role of the “Coalition of the Willing.” In this context, Shmyhal noted that Ukraine is counting on substantial contributions from partner nations to strengthen its defense capabilities.
"Continuing the agreements made between the President of Ukraine and the Prime Minister of the UK, we have coordinated our next steps in enhancing the defense of both nations," Shmyhal remarked.
The Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Lieutenant General Andriy Hnatov, and the head of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense, Lieutenant General Kyrylo Budanov, provided the British side with current data on the battlefield situation and Russia's plans.
According to Shmyhal, they thoroughly examined the enemy's strategy of military buildup – "a challenge that Ukraine, together with its allies, must respond to."
The Minister thanked his British counterpart for his personal leadership in supporting Ukraine and presented him with the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense's “Cross of Honor” for his significant contribution to strengthening Ukraine's defense capabilities.
He also expressed gratitude to the government and people of the United Kingdom for their resolute support.
