Ukraine and Sweden Collaborate on Defense Manufacturing
Ukraine and Sweden have reached an agreement for the joint production of defense products within both countries.
This was announced by Ukraine's Minister of Defense, Denys Shmyhal, on Facebook.
He informed that together with his Swedish counterpart, Paul Johnson, on August 23, he signed a letter of intent that updates the collaborative efforts in defense production, establishing conditions for joint projects in the defense industry, ensuring sustainability and reciprocity in cooperation between Ukraine and Sweden.
The signing took place during Johnson's visit to Ukraine.
The document stipulates that Ukraine and Sweden will continue to exchange technologies and experiences in weaponry and military equipment production to enhance the resilience and self-sufficiency of their defense industrial complexes.
Shmyhal expressed gratitude to the people and leadership of Sweden for their unwavering support of Ukraine during the resistance against Russian aggression, particularly for joining the PURL initiative and allocating $486 million jointly with Norway and Denmark, as well as for providing radar reconnaissance and control aircraft ACS 890.
During the meeting, the parties discussed military aviation cooperation, including pilot training and joint projects between Ukrainian and Swedish companies.
“Among the immediate prospects of our collaboration are innovations and the development of joint productions,” Shmyhal noted.
They also discussed enhancing cooperation in space technologies.
Ukrainian intelligence representatives informed their colleagues about the current situation on the battlefield and the key needs of the Defense Forces during the meeting.
