Ukraine and Canada: Advancing Drone Manufacturing Cooperation
Ukrainian Defense Minister Denys Shmyhal met with Canadian Ambassador Natalka Tsmots to discuss the potential for joint production of long-range drones.
Shmyhal shared this in a message on Telegram.
During the meeting, he expressed gratitude to Canada for its unwavering support and significant assistance since the onset of full-scale Russian aggression.
The focus of the discussions was on enhancing collaboration in the defense industry, as Canada is already involved in the «Danish model» – a highly effective mechanism for supporting Ukraine.
New initiatives aimed at bolstering the capabilities of Ukrainian soldiers were also addressed.
According to Shmyhal, Canada is preparing to contribute to the PURL initiative, which helps Ukraine acquire U.S. weapons and technology. The possibility of supporting the production of Ukrainian long-range drones, which have already demonstrated high effectiveness, is also being considered.
Additionally, the defense minister presented the Canadian side with the Defence City mechanism – a special legal framework aimed at developing Ukraine's defense ecosystem.
"Together with Canada, we are strengthening Ukraine's defense capabilities and laying the groundwork for lasting peace," emphasized Shmyhal.
