Czech Republic Offers Support to Ukraine with ARK III Cultural Preservation
On July 2nd, the government of the Czech Republic made the decision to transfer the ARK III mobile station to Ukraine, aimed at digitizing and preserving cultural heritage at risk of destruction due to the ongoing war.
The ARK project is part of the "Support for Ukrainian Culture" program, a joint initiative of the Czech Ministry of Culture and the Czech ICOM Committee, and is under the patronage of the Minister of Culture of the Czech Republic, Martin Baksa.
"This is significant work, albeit not immediately visible, that will yield real results — assisting Ukraine in preserving its cultural heritage," stated Martin Baksa.
The ARK project encompasses three specialized units. ARK I focuses on the conservation and restoration of documentary heritage, including books and manuscripts. ARK II will provide a mobile solution for the digitization of 2D objects from Ukrainian cultural institutions. ARK III is a mobile 3D digitization station, one of the first of its kind designed to preserve museum artifacts.
The Ukrainian side expresses heartfelt gratitude to the government of the Czech Republic, Minister of Culture Martin Baksa, institutions, and partner organizations for their systematic and professional support.
The implementation of the ARK project exemplifies deep international solidarity.
