Zelensky's Meeting with American Senators
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky met with American senators Jeanne Shaheen and Chris Coons.
The head of state expressed gratitude for bipartisan support, emphasizing that Ukrainians greatly appreciate the assistance provided by the Senate and the House of Representatives of the U.S. Congress.
Jeanne Shaheen and Chris Coons assured continued support for Ukraine, particularly highlighting the resilience of Ukrainian defenders.
The president stressed the significance of defense assistance from the United States and expressed Ukraine's readiness to procure necessary defense systems, especially air defense systems. Ukraine is also open to defense co-production with the U.S., leveraging its unique expertise and experience.
Zelensky noted that Ukraine is firmly committed to the peace process and supports President Donald Trump's initiative for an unconditional ceasefire that could pave the way for a just and lasting peace.
The head of state emphasized that Russia is not seeking genuine peace, as evidenced by recent attacks on Ukrainian cities and civilians. Thus, a strong pressure must be applied to Russia to prevent them from expanding their production of terror tools. The president thanked the senators for supporting the bill on new stringent sanctions against Russia.
During the meeting, they also discussed the use of frozen Russian assets for the benefit of Ukraine and further joint efforts within the framework of the economic partnership agreement between Ukraine and the USA.
