The UN Security Council convened to discuss the recent developments regarding Russia's aggression against Ukraine.
The United States emphasized the need for constructive negotiations aimed at achieving a peaceful resolution, while France called on the international community to condemn the escalation of the conflict. China expressed concern over the exchanges of strikes between the parties.
The Ukrainian representatives urged the UN to intensify efforts to end the war.
“This aggression is not confined to trenches; it permeates daily life: our homes, schools, hospitals. This madness must stop,” stated Ukraine's permanent representative to the UN.
The US representative urged Russia to immediately commence negotiations, noting that Russia's actions lead to the deaths of civilians.
She also stressed that China should halt the supply of goods supporting Russia's military actions.
In response, China characterized these accusations as groundless, expressing concern over civilian casualties.
France reiterated its call for condemning Russia's actions, emphasizing its unwillingness to pursue peace.
