The Importance of International Cooperation in Reuniting Children with Ukraine
Darіya Zarіvna, advisor to the Head of the President's Office, met with the Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of the Republic of Lithuania to Ukraine, Inga Stanіtє-Tolochkіnє.
During the meeting, she informed about the key priorities of the Bring Kids Back UA initiative for the upcoming year, particularly focusing on the reintegration of children returning to Ukraine.
«Returning a child to Ukraine is just the first step. They need not only safety but also care, support, and healing opportunities,» emphasized Darіya Zarіvna.
Attention was also given to the initial list of abducted children that the Ukrainian side shared with Russian representatives during negotiations in Istanbul.
«If the Russian side wants to demonstrate the seriousness of its intentions, it must return at least a few children from the list,» she stressed.
She noted that public support from partner countries could be crucial for the return of these children.
Additionally, the implementation of the Safe Pathways Home initiative as part of the Montreal commitment was discussed during the meeting.
The parties emphasized the importance of international cooperation in determining the whereabouts of Ukrainian children abducted by Russia and new mechanisms for their return home.
