Strengthening Collaboration Between Europe and Asia for Security
Europe and Asia must enhance their collaboration to address the challenges posed by China and Russia, ensuring the preservation of international order.
This was stated by EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Kaja Kallas, during the Shangri-La defense summit in Singapore, as reported by Ukrinform via Bloomberg.
The EU sees threats from Russia and China as "the greatest challenge of our time."
"This is the biggest challenge of our era. When China and Russia talk about joint changes not seen in a century and about revising the global security order, we all should be extremely concerned," Kallas remarked.
She accused China of aiding the Russian military effort, stating that 80% of dual-use goods that Russia employs in its war against Ukraine come from the world's second-largest economy. In light of U.S. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth’s warning about the threat posed by China to the rest of Asia, Kallas emphasized that Russia should also be a major concern.
"If you are worried about China, you should also be worried about Russia," the head of European diplomacy asserted.
Western officials accuse China of supplying critical technologies, including drones, to Russia, while highlighting both countries' involvement in cyberattacks and hazardous activities related to infrastructure.
Kallas urged European and Asian partners to collaborate against the "shadow fleet" and review maritime security laws.
The direct support from North Korea for Russia's military efforts, including the supply of missiles and munitions, contributes to the expansion of conflict globally.
