New Developments in Peace Talks for Ukraine
The peace talks scheduled for Wednesday in London, led by British Foreign Secretary David Lammy, will not take place.
According to "European Truth", this has been confirmed by the UK Foreign Office, as reported by The Guardian.
In the statement from the British Foreign Office, it is mentioned that "today's meeting of foreign ministers regarding peace discussions in Ukraine is postponed. Official-level negotiations will continue, but they will be closed to the media."
The meeting was supposed to involve the foreign ministers of the United States, the UK, France, Germany, and Ukraine.
It was revealed recently that US Secretary of State Marco Rubio will not attend. Instead, Special Envoy for Ukraine Keith Kellogg will come.
Furthermore, media reports indicate that the foreign ministers of France and Germany may also cancel their trips to London.
Meanwhile, Sky News reported that Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andriy Sybiga is expected to be in the UK capital and will hold a bilateral meeting with British Foreign Secretary David Lammy.
The downgrade in the diplomatic level of the talks occurs amidst increasing pressure from US President Donald Trump and his team on Kyiv and Moscow to achieve a ceasefire.
The so-called "peace proposal" from the US, which is to be discussed in London, includes recognizing Russia's illegal annexation of Crimea, something that President Volodymyr Zelensky rejected on Tuesday.
Last week, the Trump administration presented Ukraine with a one-page document in Paris, which was described as the "final proposal" from the US president for a peaceful resolution, with the main points outlined in this news.
