New Border Crossing Point Opens Between Ukraine and Hungary

Starting from April 8, the new border crossing point “Velyka Palad’ – Nodyhodosh” will be operational at the border between Ukraine and Hungary, as reported by Ukrinform referencing data from the Transcarpathian Customs.

The inauguration of the international crossing “Velyka Palad’ – Nodyhodosh” will take place with the participation of high-ranking officials from both Ukraine and Hungary, announced the Consul General of Hungary, József Bacskaï, during a meeting with acting head of the Transcarpathian Customs, Illia Nizhnykov.

According to the diplomat, the operation of this crossing point will invigorate cross-border and cultural connections, significantly contributing to Ukraine's European integration.

For his part, Nizhnykov informed the Hungarian consul that the customs service has implemented a systematic approach to combat smuggling and corruption.

The discussion also included the launch of an industrial park in the settlement of Batevo and the village of Batrad, where plywood, wooden boards, panels, and veneers will be produced in large quantities for export to EU countries through Hungary, leading to increased traffic at the freight crossing points.

Nizhnykov also noted that, due to the memorandum signed between the State Customs Service of Ukraine and the Customs and Financial Guard of Hungary regarding the implementation of an Early Warning System for emergencies at the Ukrainian-Hungarian border, all crossing points in this area operate smoothly and rhythmically.

At the end of the meeting, the parties agreed to maintain active communication, respond promptly to issues, and seek solutions.
