On February 12, 2026, the Ukrainian defense forces, including the Security Service of Ukraine, struck the oil refinery in Ukhta, Russia. This operation is part of broader efforts to diminish the military-economic capacity of the aggressor. The facility is located 1750 kilometers from the Ukrainian border.
According to preliminary reports, a fire broke out in the technological sections, particularly in the visbreaking unit, which reduces the viscosity of feedstock for producing fuel oil and other light fractions.
The plant, which operates under PJSC 'Lukoil', processes approximately 4.2 million tons of oil annually, producing automotive gasoline, diesel fuel, fuel oil, and vacuum gas oil.
This facility plays a role in supporting the Russian military. The extent of the damages is currently being assessed.
