Innovative Drone Net Gun Developed by AirNet
The Ukrainian company AirNet has developed a cutting-edge net gun for drones equipped with a radar system. This technology can detect hostile drones and automatically incapacitate them with a net.
Details about the development were shared during the Brave1 Components exhibition, according to "Militarny".
The net system weighs 780 grams and can be mounted on various platforms. It activates automatically; simply providing power and elevating the drone above 5 meters is sufficient.
The radar identifies the three-dimensional coordinates of moving objects within a specified sector – including distance, azimuth, and altitude.
When the drone equipped with the AirNet system approaches a foreign UAV within 0.1 to 6 meters, the system locks onto the target. AirNet then sends a command to ignite the pyrotechnic cartridge – a micro-explosive mechanism.
This triggers a shot of the specialized net at a distance of 5-10 meters.
"The cost of a single net shot is approximately $50, but it can disable any drone with propellers, including larger UAV models," the company states.
The AirNet system is controlled from the drone's remote, where it is installed. The captured drone remains suspended in the net, allowing the operator to safely transport it.
The strength of the net allows it to carry loads of up to 20 kg. If the captured drone is too heavy or dangerous, the operator can remotely drop it along with the net.
After completing the mission, the operator can quickly change the cartridge for a new net and pyrotechnic cartridge.
Earlier, it was reported that Brave1 is launching a grant program for domestic weapon component manufacturers. Developers can receive up to 8 million UAH to accelerate R&D and enhance the technological readiness of their developments.
