Ukraine's Military Strategy: Recent Advances and Challenges
The President of Ukraine held a significant military meeting. Participants included Commander-in-Chief Oleksandr Syrskyi, Chief of the General Staff Andrii Hnatov, Minister of Defense of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal, and the relevant Deputy Head of the Office Pavlo Palisa. This was reported by President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky.
He informed about the reports concerning the front lines — key directions, as well as the situation in the border areas.
«We paid special attention to the Dobropillia counteroffensive operation. As of this morning, 168.8 km² of territory has been liberated since the start of the operation, and an additional 187.7 km² has been cleared of Russian sabotage groups. The total losses of the Russians in this operation alone amount to nearly 3 thousand personnel, with most being irreversible losses. The replenishment of the exchange fund for Ukraine continues. I thank all our units involved in the operation», — emphasized Volodymyr Zelensky.
Reports were also given on the situation in Kupiansk and the surrounding areas. The progress of our actions in the Kharkiv and Donetsk regions was discussed in detail.
The Commander-in-Chief reported on the downing of a Russian Su-34 in Zaporizhzhia.
I thank our soldiers for their precision. This aircraft, along with others, was used by the Russians to strike with bombs on Zaporizhzhia and other of our cities and villages. We will continue to justifiably destroy Russian military aviation in response to strikes on our cities and our people. We are working with partners to further strengthen our air defense. Following the meetings and agreements in New York, there are corresponding directives for the Ministry of Defense and Ukrainian diplomats», — wrote Zelensky on Facebook.
Additionally, he reported that the Commander-in-Chief also briefed on recent drone incidents at the Ukrainian-Hungarian border. Ukrainian military personnel recorded incursions of reconnaissance drones into our airspace, likely Hungarian drones. They may have been conducting reconnaissance on industrial potential in the Ukrainian border regions.
«I instructed to verify all available data and promptly report on each recorded fact», — noted Volodymyr Zelensky.
