Through eight phases of a large-scale prisoner exchange, hundreds of Ukrainians have returned home, including the wounded, civilians, and those missing in action.
This was reported by President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky on social media.
«Eight phases of a significant exchange. Since early June, hundreds of our people have come back home. Our youth, defenders of Mariupol, those who held the line in Donetsk, Zaporizhia, Luhansk, Kharkiv, Sumy, Chernihiv, and Kyiv regions. The wounded, seriously ill, and those who were considered missing», — noted the head of state.
According to Zelensky, most of those freed had been in Russian captivity since 2022. Among those returned were not only military personnel but also civilians who fell victim to the war.
The President emphasized that this is the result of coordinated work by a large team that makes daily efforts to secure the release of every Ukrainian.
«We will continue and work until we bring everyone home, without exception», - he stated.
