Debris from a Downed Drone Hits Polish Consulate in Kyiv
Late at night, debris from a downed Russian drone struck the Polish consulate in Kyiv.
No diplomats were injured, and the building sustained minimal damage, allowing the consulate to operate as usual. This was confirmed by the spokesperson of the Polish Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Pawel Wronski.
According to the spokesperson, fragments of the drone likely fell on the consulate building.
«At around 12:30 AM, employees who were in the shelter heard a loud bang, and later observed holes in the roof, fortunately with only minor damage to the building's facade. This indicates that a Russian drone disintegrated above the house, with its debris landing on our consulate», noted Wronski.
He added that no one was harmed.
«Polish diplomats are continuing their work as usual, although, like all Kyiv residents, they are weary of the constant alerts and air raids that have become common in the city», emphasized the spokesperson of the Polish Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Wronski stated that despite the emergency situation, the consulate would remain open. He mentioned that staff are assessing the damage, and preliminary observations suggest it is minimal.
When asked if the Russian ambassador would be summoned to the Polish Foreign Ministry or if a note of protest would be sent, the spokesperson replied that he currently has no information on this matter.
As a result of the night attack on Kyiv, the Polish consulate was damaged, but there were no casualties. Polish Foreign Minister Radek Sikorski emphasized that Ukraine urgently needs air defense systems.
