Ukrainian Military Holds Strategic Control in Kursk Region
The Ukrainian military maintains control over an area of approximately 90 square kilometers in the Glushkovsky District of the Kursk region.
This update was provided by the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Oleksandr Syrskyi, during a press meeting, as reported by Ukrinform.
UAF controls 90 sq. km in Kursk
Syrskyi asserted that the actions of Ukrainian units in the Glushkovsky District have prevented Russian forces from relocating a significant group from the Kursk direction to Donetsk.
“In April 2025, Russian troops—around 60,000 personnel including two airborne assault divisions and naval infantry—were tasked to move to new combat fronts, but our proactive measures disrupted these plans,” Syrskyi noted.
The Commander-in-Chief explained that as a result, these units were not redeployed to other fronts.
According to Syrskyi, one brigade that was already heading towards the Pokrovsky direction was redirected back to the Kursk area. Currently, about 10,000 Russian troops are engaged in combat within the Glushkovsky District.
“The Ukrainian army controls approximately 90 square kilometers of the Glushkovsky District, which serves as a preventive action against a potential enemy offensive,” Syrskyi added.
