New Insights on the Exchange of Fallen Soldiers
In a recent exchange of deceased soldiers, Russia has handed over the bodies of its servicemen to Ukraine, some of whom turned out to be citizens of other countries. This was reported by President Volodymyr Zelensky during a press conference with journalists.
“During the repatriation, we received the bodies of 20 individuals, whom the Russian side claimed were our fallen soldiers. However, among them was an Israeli national who fought on the Russian side. Although we were assured that only Ukrainian soldiers were involved, this turned out to be false,” the President stated.
He emphasized that such occurrences are not isolated and indicate deliberate manipulation by the Russian authorities. The aim is to create the impression of a large number of Ukrainian casualties.
“We certainly wish to bring back all our heroes, but we do not want to accept the bodies of Russian soldiers just for the sake of numbers,” Zelensky added.
The President also mentioned that Ukraine is prepared to return the bodies of Russian soldiers; however, there has been no constructive response from the Russian side.
