Ukraine Under Attack: New Challenges and Global Response
The President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, addresses the recent Russian assaults on Ukraine.
Regular reports from Interior Minister Kyrylo Tymoshenko and military commanders detail the situation following the massive Russian strike. Over 440 drones and 32 missiles were deployed. This marks one of the most devastating attacks on Kyiv. Overnight, Odesa, Zaporizhzhia, Chernihiv region, Zhytomyr region, Kirovohrad region, Mykolaiv region, and Kyiv region were also attacked.
Rescue operations are currently underway in Kyiv to extract individuals trapped under the debris of a collapsed residential building. The exact number of those under the rubble is currently unknown. The Russians have destroyed entire stairwells. In total, buildings in eight districts of Kyiv have been damaged. Efforts continue to recover from the strikes in Odesa, with rescuers working at all points of impact. All affected individuals are receiving necessary assistance. As of 09:20, there are reports of 75 injured and 15 deceased. My condolences go out to the families of the victims.
Such attacks are pure terrorism. The entire world, including the USA and Europe, must respond as a civilized society would to terrorists.
Putin acts this way because he believes he can continue the war. He desires war to persist. It is unfortunate that the world's powerful leaders turn a blind eye to this. We are in contact with all partners at all possible levels to ensure an appropriate response. It is the terrorists who should feel the pain, not ordinary, peaceful people.
