Tragedy in Kyiv: Volunteers and Their Cats Lose Lives

As a result of a Russian strike in the Shevchenkivskyi district of Kyiv, a family of volunteers tragically lost their lives – an elderly woman who cared for ten cats and her son.

This was reported by the Kyiv Animal Rescue Group, which was called to the scene by a friend of the deceased.

According to journalists from the telethon ‘Unified News’, the family lived on the top floor of a five-story building. The son had a disability, and his mother took care of him.

During the shelling, the family was unable to reach a shelter.

At the scene, the bodies of two people and five cats were found, while one surviving cat was discovered beneath the window with severe burns.

“Our rescuers found a live, severely burned cat outside, likely thrown by the shockwave.

The cat was urgently hospitalized with burns over most of its body and serious lung damage,” the rescuers said.

The animal is currently in an oxygen chamber in the clinic.

“This cat has lost its home and family, and nearly lost its life. Please help us save it. We appreciate any donations,” the animal protectors added.
