Zelensky Cuts South Africa Visit Amid Russian Attacks
Following a series of intense attacks from Russia, President Volodymyr Zelensky has decided to shorten his visit to South Africa and return to Ukraine. He instructed Defense Minister Rustem Umerov to remind Western partners of Ukraine's request for air defense support.

The president emphasized the importance of global awareness regarding the ongoing situation. Last night, the enemy launched approximately 70 missiles, including ballistic ones, along with nearly 150 drones.
Many Ukrainian cities have suffered extensive damage. Rescue operations are underway to clear debris and assist victims.
As of 10 AM, according to the president's report, over 80 people have been injured across Ukraine.
Zelensky stated that he tasked the defense minister to urgently contact partners regarding Ukraine's air defense needs.

A cessation of attacks is urgently and unconditionally needed. We also count on assistance with humanitarian issues, particularly in securing the return of our captives and children abducted by Russia. I am canceling part of this visit's agenda and will return to Ukraine immediately after meeting with the South African president."
Background: On the night of April 24, according to the Air Forces, Russia launched 215 missiles of various types and drones at Ukraine, mainly targeting Kyiv, which suffered extensive damage. Air defense systems shot down 112 enemy aerial targets, with active participation from F-16 and Mirage fighters.
