Ukraine's Response to Violations of the Russian Ceasefire
President Volodymyr Zelensky, following a report from the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Oleksandr Syrskyi, stated that Russian forces violated the "Easter ceasefire" 2935 times. He emphasized that Ukraine's response would be "mirror-like" to the actions of the aggressor.
Zelensky noted: "The total number of violations by the Russian army of its promise of silence over the past day is 2935".
Details: The president pointed out that the highest number of shellings and assaults occurred in the Pokrovsk direction.
He also added that "the Russian promise of silence was not upheld in the Kursk direction".
According to Zelensky, there were 96 assaults by Russian forces on the front lines, 1882 shellings of Ukrainian positions, including 812 from heavy weaponry, and over 950 uses of Russian FPV drones.
Zelensky stated: "On this day, Moscow failed to respond to the proposal for a complete ceasefire for 30 days after Easter, as well as the proposal to at least maintain silence in the skies regarding civilian infrastructure and refrain from missile and drone strikes."
"The nature of Ukrainian actions will remain mirror-like: we will respond to silence with silence, and our strikes will follow the defense against Russian attacks. Actions are always more eloquent than words."
What preceded: On the evening of April 19, Zelensky stated that the Russian "Easter ceasefire" does not apply to the Kursk and Belgorod regions of the Russian Federation, and shelling did not cease on parts of other fronts.
Zelensky proposed that Russia extend the ban on long-range strikes for 30 days, as during the so-called "Easter ceasefire", there were no air alerts despite numerous violations by Russia on the front.
