Military Leaders Visit Kyiv: New Horizons for the Ukrainian Army
Military leaders from France and Britain held discussions with Ukrainian officials to address key challenges and objectives for the Ukrainian army, focusing on long-term support for recovery and modernization.

On Friday, April 4, the chiefs of staff from both countries visited Kyiv for a meeting with the top leadership of Ukraine.
According to the French General Staff, the primary goal of the visit was to examine the needs and tasks of the Ukrainian army to ensure ongoing support for its recovery and evolution.
"Strengthening the Ukrainian armed forces is critically important and serves as the foundation for the country's security if we aim to achieve stable peace in Ukraine," they stated.
The statement also emphasized that France and Britain will work closely together to define and develop international operations to deter Russia from further aggressive actions after peace is established.
"The collaboration between France and Britain will continue in future discussions, making a significant contribution to the security of the European continent," they added in the release.
General Thierry Burkhard, Chief of the French General Staff, commented on the visit, indicating that the meetings aimed to provide decisive support to the Ukrainian army, enabling it to continue its fight.
On March 27 in Paris, French President Emmanuel Macron announced that a Franco-British mission would be sent to Ukraine to strengthen the country's army. He also added that preparations are underway for the deployment of so-called "guaranteeing forces".
On March 28, Zelensky announced a meeting of general staff representatives in Ukraine to discuss the deployment of military contingents.
The president stated that this would be the "first in-depth meeting," during which certain "details" and "clarifications" would be discussed.
