New Opportunities for Youth in Ukraine
In December 2025, Ukraine will launch new barrier-free youth spaces called "12–21", initiated with the support of Olena Zelenska Foundation. These spaces will be freely accessible to all individuals aged 12 to 21. This was announced by Olena Zelenska on her Facebook page.
She stated that since its inception, the Foundation has focused on children.
"Every new project shows us that teenagers and youth require a special approach. They seek services that cater to their age and real needs. At the same time, they want to be in environments where they are heard and accepted," Zelenska emphasized.
She also highlighted that supporting youth is crucial for the country's recovery, as young people will shape Ukraine's future.
"According to UNICEF, 73% of young people aged 14–34 need psychosocial assistance. Furthermore, 61% of parents notice signs of stress and sleep issues in their children. Only 30% of Ukrainian teenagers can confidently state what they want to be at 30 years old," the First Lady pointed out.
The Olena Zelenska Foundation conducted in-depth interviews where youth shared their experiences: many have left their homes, feel constant stress, and uncertainty about the future.
In search of effective support formats, Foundation representatives visited the Headspace facility in Denmark, where they observed how such initiatives provide a sense of stability and confidence.
"This became the foundation for creating the new youth spaces ‘12–21’. These will be centers for youth that combine open communication, leisure activities, peer interactions, and professional psychosocial support," Zelenska noted.
The first youth spaces will be operational by December and will be available for all individuals aged 12 to 21.
"We cannot change the experiences that young people already have. But we can create conditions for a better future where there is room for support and acceptance," the President's wife concluded.
